How to connect OpnForm to ChatGPT and other MCP AI assistants

OpnForm can connect to AI assistants that support the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing the assistant to interact with your OpnForm account and forms.

1. Log in to your OpnForm account

Log in to your OpnForm account.

2. Open MCP & AI agents settings

Go to Settings → MCP & AI agents.

3. Get your OpnForm MCP connection details

Click Copy MCP Server URL or Copy Settings Link, depending on the option available in your account.

Keep this information available—you'll need it when configuring ChatGPT.

4. Open ChatGPT

Open ChatGPT on the web.

Note: Custom MCP connections in ChatGPT require Developer Mode. Availability and permissions depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings.

5. Enable Developer Mode

In ChatGPT, go to Settings → Apps → Advanced Settings and enable Developer Mode, if available.

For ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu workspaces, an administrator may need to enable Developer Mode or allow custom MCP connectors first.

6. Create a custom app

Go to Settings → Apps → Create.

Enter the OpnForm MCP server endpoint from your OpnForm MCP & AI agents settings.

ChatGPT will ask you to configure the connection and authentication method, if required.

7. Scan and connect

Click Scan Tools.

If OpnForm uses OAuth authentication, ChatGPT will prompt you to authorize the connection. Complete the authorization and wait for ChatGPT to finish scanning the available tools.

Then click Create.

8. Use OpnForm in ChatGPT

Start a new ChatGPT conversation and open the Tools/Apps menu.

Select your OpnForm app, then ask ChatGPT to work with your OpnForm account.

For example:

"Show me the forms in my OpnForm account."

Or:

"Create a new contact form with fields for name, email, and message."

Depending on the tools and permissions available, ChatGPT may ask you to confirm actions that create or modify data.

Other MCP-compatible AI assistants

The OpnForm MCP server can also be used with other AI assistants that support remote MCP servers.

The exact setup process varies by AI assistant. In general:

1. Log in to OpnForm.
2. Go to Settings → MCP & AI agents.
3. Copy your MCP Server URL or Settings Link.
4. Open your AI assistant's MCP or integrations settings.
5. Add OpnForm as an MCP server.
6. Complete the authentication/authorization process.
7. Start using OpnForm through your AI assistant.

Tip: If your AI assistant provides a "Connect MCP Server", "Add MCP Server", or similar option, use the OpnForm MCP Server URL provided in your OpnForm settings.

Important

MCP support varies between AI assistants and subscription plans. Some assistants may support only read/search operations, while others may also support actions that create or modify data.

Only connect OpnForm to AI assistants that you trust. Review the permissions requested during the connection process before authorizing access.
