How to create and manage OpnForm forms with an AI assistant

Use OpnForm with ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or another MCP-compatible AI assistant to build forms from a conversation and keep working with them after they are created.


What OpnForm MCP does


Describe the form you need in your AI assistant. OpnForm creates a private draft, gives you an interactive preview, and lets you revise the form before you open it in the visual editor.

Nothing is published automatically. You decide when to open the draft in OpnForm, save it, and publish it.


Connect your AI assistant


  1. Open the OpnForm MCP setup guide.
  2. Choose your AI client: ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or another remote MCP client.
  3. Add the OpnForm MCP server using this URL:

  1. Start a new conversation and ask the assistant to create a form and show you a preview.


Start without an OpnForm account


You can create a private guest draft before signing in:


  1. Tell the assistant who the form is for and what information you need.
  2. Open the interactive preview returned by the assistant.
  3. Test the flow and ask for any changes in the conversation.
  4. Select Open in OpnForm when you want to customize the design or save the form.


Guest drafts remain private and are available for seven days. Treat the draft and preview links as private links and do not share them publicly.


Connect your account when you need more


Connect your OpnForm account through OAuth when you want the assistant to work with your saved data.


Guest mode lets you create first while a connected account unlocks ongoing management


After connecting your account, the assistant can:


  • List the workspaces and forms you can already access.
  • Create and update forms.
  • Publish a form or move it to trash after asking for confirmation.
  • Find, filter, inspect, summarize, and export submissions.
  • Read the same high-level form statistics available in OpnForm.


The assistant cannot administer workspaces, permanently delete or restore forms, or change, delete, or restore submissions.


Safety and privacy


  • OpnForm uses OAuth, so you never paste your password into a conversation.
  • Publishing and moving a form to trash require explicit confirmation.
  • Submission tools are read-only.
  • The assistant only sees the workspaces, forms, and submissions available to the connected OpnForm user.
  • If your plan does not include a premium form feature, OpnForm reports what was disabled when the form is saved.


Troubleshooting



Ask the assistant to generate a new preview for the draft.


I connected my account, but the conversation still asks me to authenticate


Start a new conversation after completing OAuth. Some AI clients keep the authentication state that existed when the conversation started.


The assistant cannot find a workspace, form, or submission


Check the connected user's permissions in OpnForm. The MCP connection never grants access beyond those existing permissions.


My AI client does not accept the OpnForm server URL


Confirm that the client supports remote streamable HTTP MCP servers. Then follow the client-specific instructions in the MCP setup guide.
